Where it wins. Workspace integration is the reason to choose it: summarising a thread in Gmail, drafting in Docs, or asking about a file in Drive works without moving data anywhere. The context window is enormous, so very long documents and codebases fit comfortably. Native multimodal handling means you can hand it video and audio, not just text and images. Deep Research produces genuinely useful multi-source reports, and the free tier is capable.
Where it falls short. Output quality is inconsistent — strong on structured tasks, flatter than Claude or ChatGPT on writing that needs a voice. The product naming and tier structure change constantly, which makes it hard to know what you are buying. Workspace features often require a business plan on top. And it is Google: how prompts feed back into products is a fair question for confidential work.
