GetResponse Step-by-Step Tutorial for Beginners (2025) | How To Get Started

Published by GetResponse on YouTube · loads only when you press play

Our verdict

GetResponse wins on arithmetic rather than elegance. Email, automation, landing pages, conversion funnels, and live webinars in one subscription is a genuinely unusual bundle, and for a solo marketer or small team running product launches it removes two or three line items from the monthly software bill.

Where it wins. Native webinar hosting is the standout — it is a real webinar product with registration pages, replays, and screen sharing, not a token feature, and nothing else in this price band includes it. The conversion funnel templates are practical scaffolding rather than marketing fluff: pick a lead-magnet or sales funnel and it wires up the pages, forms, and follow-up sequence for you. Automation depth is closer to the enterprise tools than the price suggests, with condition and action blocks that handle abandoned carts and score-based branching.

Where it falls short. The interface carries a decade and a half of accumulated features and shows it — finding a setting often means guessing which of three plausible menus owns it. Deliverability is solid but measurably behind ConvertKit in our sends. The cheapest paid tier withholds the automation builder that is the main reason to be here, so the real entry point is one tier up.

Our call. The best value in the category if you will actually use the funnels and webinars. If all you need is a clean broadcast tool, you are paying for surface area you will never open.

Best for

Solo marketers and small teams running launches who want webinars and funnels bundled with email rather than bought separately.

Key takeaways

  • 1Native webinar hosting is included — a rare bundle at this price
  • 2Conversion funnel templates wire up pages, forms, and follow-ups together
  • 3Free plan covers 500 contacts with a landing page and website builder
  • 4Automation builder requires the Marketing Automation tier, not Starter
  • 5Deliverability is good but a step behind the category leaders
  • 6UI density is the main day-to-day complaint

GetResponse is the bundle play in email marketing: instead of the cleanest email tool, you get a competent email tool plus a funnel builder plus native webinar hosting for roughly what a mid-tier email platform alone would cost. For a solo marketer running launches, that arithmetic is hard to argue with — the webinar module alone replaces a separate subscription.

What we like

  • Webinars, funnels, and email in one subscription
  • Automation depth well beyond its price band
  • Genuinely usable free plan
  • Strong landing page and form builder
  • 24/7 live chat on all paid plans

Worth noting

  • Interface feels crowded and dated in places
  • Deliverability trails the specialists
  • Automation locked out of the entry tier
  • Template design quality is uneven

Good to know

Frequently asked questions

Does GetResponse really include webinars?

Yes, and it is a genuine webinar product — registration pages, live streaming, screen sharing, chat, polls, and on-demand replays — not a token feature. Attendee caps scale with your plan. It is the main reason to choose GetResponse over a pure email tool.

Is the free plan actually usable?

For starting out, yes. It covers 500 contacts with email sending, one landing page, a website builder, and signup forms. There is no automation, so treat it as a way to build an initial list rather than run a business.

Which plan do I need for marketing automation?

The Marketing Automation tier. The entry-level Starter plan includes autoresponders and landing pages but not the visual workflow builder, which is what most people mean by automation. Budget for the automation tier if that is why you are here.

How does GetResponse compare to ConvertKit?

GetResponse is broader and cheaper per feature; ConvertKit is cleaner and deliverers better. If you run webinars and funnels, GetResponse saves real money. If you only send broadcasts and sequences, ConvertKit is the nicer tool to live in.

What are conversion funnels in GetResponse?

Pre-built templates that assemble a complete campaign — landing page, signup form, follow-up sequence, and where relevant a sales or webinar page — from one setup flow, rather than requiring you to build and connect each piece yourself.

Is GetResponse good for e-commerce?

Reasonably. It has abandoned-cart recovery, product recommendations, and Shopify, WooCommerce, and Magento integrations. It is not at Klaviyo's level for a store that lives or dies on email revenue, but it is well ahead of the basic tools.
