Our verdict

Libsyn is the most dependable podcast host and the least pleasant to use. For established shows that value stability, that trade often makes sense.

Where it wins. Two decades of uptime is a real asset — for a show with a large back catalogue and an audience that expects episodes to be there, reliability outranks features. Statistics are IAB v2 certified and trusted by advertisers, the ad marketplace has genuine advertiser relationships from long standing, and paid subscriptions via Libsyn work well. Storage-based pricing suits shows that publish consistently but not heavily.

Where it falls short. The interface is dated to the point of friction, and onboarding gives a first-time podcaster almost no guidance — the opposite of Buzzsprout. Monthly storage allowances are restrictive, and exceeding them means upgrading rather than paying a small overage. The included website is basic, there is no audio processing, and support is slow. Newer hosts do more for similar money.

Our call. Reasonable for established shows that prize stability and advertiser trust. First-time podcasters should start almost anywhere else.

Best for

Established podcasters who value two decades of uptime and advertiser-trusted statistics over product polish.

Frequently asked questions

Is Libsyn still worth using?

For established shows that value uptime and advertiser-trusted statistics, yes. First-time podcasters will find Buzzsprout vastly friendlier to start on.

How does Libsyn pricing work?

By monthly storage allowance rather than downloads. Exceeding it means upgrading a tier rather than paying a small overage, so estimate your monthly upload size.
