Wix is the best pure website builder for people who do not want to think about the web, and the platform we most often warn bloggers away from for exactly the reason that makes it good.
Where it wins. The design experience is unmatched. Free-placement drag-and-drop means you can put an element anywhere, and the template library is both large and genuinely well designed rather than the usual filler. Everything is bundled — hosting, SSL, CDN, forms, and a decent app market — so there is nothing to configure and nothing to patch. The AI site builder produces a credible starting draft from a few questions, which is a real time-saver for a small business site. For a restaurant, a portfolio, or a local services page, you can be live and looking good in an afternoon.
Where it falls short. There is no full site export. If you outgrow Wix, you rebuild from scratch on a new platform and manage the redirects by hand — a serious risk for a content site that accumulates hundreds of URLs. SEO control has improved a lot but still trails WordPress on structured data, taxonomy, and technical edge cases. The blogging module is adequate rather than good, with weaker taxonomy and editorial workflow than a real CMS.
